A message from our Executive Director

We are proud to present our 2023 Community Impact Summary, highlighting our critical achievements of 2023!

2023 was a challenging year and illustrated the long-term impact the pandemic continues to have on the shelter overpopulation crisis. These challenges include increased homeless pet populations, increased pet surrenders, lower adoption demand, rising costs of labor and supplies, and decreased funding. And yet, SPCA of Northern Nevada (SPCA-NN) successfully served our community’s pets and their people despite the challenges!

Thanks to our community’s financial support in December, we reopened our Todd’s Fund veterinary assistance program in January 2024. We also re-opened our dental voucher program and remain the only provider of affordable community spay/neuter in all of northern Nevada!

We’re able to achieve our lifesaving mission in challenging times thanks to our incredible team dedicated to caring for pets and running our community programs—thank you! We also couldn’t help so many without all our volunteers!

As we embark on a new year together, let’s keep prioritizing pets and people and help each other thrive in our community. Please consider how you can help—adopt, volunteer, shop in our thrift store, foster, donate, sponsor a pet, or come read to our dogs.

Thank you…I’m excited to see how many pets we can help together in 2024!
