Transportation for Veterinary Appointments

Through special grant funding, SPCA of Northern Nevada has partnered with Options Veterinary Care to provide transportation for pet parents who are unable to get to and from their vet appointments.

What is the Wellness Waggin'?

Wellness Waggin’ is a grant-funded pilot program providing transportation to and from appointments for members of the community who have no feasible way to get their pet to their veterinarian’s office.
Because the program is in its pilot year, the Wellness Waggin’ currently works solely with established patients at Options Veterinary. Wellness Waggin’ is a volunteer-operated program, and our volunteers drive pets to and from scheduled appointments in our SPCA-NN transfer van. Please note, we do not transport pet owners – only the pet.

An Innovative Solution

Not everyone in our community has the luxury of reliable transportation. At SPCA of Northern Nevada, we believe this shouldn’t keep pet guardians from getting their pets the care they deserve. By providing transportation services for the pets whose guardians cannot transport them to veterinary appointments, we can:

  • Improve the quality of life for community pets
  • Drastically reduce unwanted litters
  • Address common illness that are preventable by vaccines
  • Educate the community about pet health
  • Provide support and resources for our community

Get Involved

Wellness Waggin’ is an innovative solution for community members who want to provide necessary medical care for their pets, but don’t have transportation to do so. This could be due to a number of barriers such as financial limitations and/or health issues, as well as elderly members of our community who do not have the ability to drive.
Whether you need a ride from the Wellness Waggin’ or perhaps want to volunteer being a driver, there are a number of ways to get involved.
