In January, we traveled to a rural shelter partner who asked for help and brought back several homeless pets to our Adoption Center. Ray of Sunshine was one of those pets in need. This sweet, young cat was born with an eye deformity and required specialized care to find the love he was looking for. With loving patience, he began to trust us. And with help from his favorite toy, he started adjusting and charmed us all!
Ray of Sunshine was born blind due to severe microphthalmia of both eyes. When he arrived at our clinic, they were sadly still intact, which could lead to further complications.
We then performed a much-needed surgery to reduce his future risk for infection, or cancer. Ray recovered quickly, and his curious personality continued to emerge! We accommodated his special needs with unique, daily enrichment while he waited for someone to love him and his purrrfect imperfections.
After 3 months of waiting, Ray of Sunshine FINALLY met his people… and he was adopted!
Today, he continues to inspire us with his affectionate bravery and can-do attitude. He is thriving in his new, loving home, and you would never know he was blind; even playing fetch with his adoring humans! To top it off, he has a new best friend in Ruby — another special needs cat who was adopted from us last year!
