Last November, our team traveled to a rural partner shelter in northern Nevada. And there, we met Hobbes. Affectionate and gentle, he has spent most of his 11 weeks on earth living in pain. Hobbes had been surrendered with a severe leg injury. But without the resources to provide medical care for him, Hobbes’ future was in jeopardy.
When our partner shelter asked us to help Hobbes, we took him into our care without hesitation.
Our veterinarians determined his leg had been broken in multiple places and left untreated for weeks. So we carefully considered what surgery would give Hobbes the absolute best outcome to live the pain-free, active life he deserved. Our experienced veterinary team determined amputation was the best option for young Hobbes.
Hobbes’ surgery and recovery were a success!
And just two days before Thanksgiving, Hobbes was adopted, and able to spend his first holiday season with a loving family in his new home! One year later, Hobbes is a happy, healthy, and active dog! And – for the first time in his life – he truly knows the meaning of a loving family!
