With a passion for people and pets along with an extensive background in communication, Emily brings a well-rounded perspective to the team.
Prior to joining the SPCA of Northern Nevada, Emily graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, and taught middle and high school English in Washoe County. Following a move to Northern California, she pursued her passion for content creation working as a lifestyle journalist and photographer, marketing director, and senior copywriter. She has successfully led the marketing efforts for several nonprofit organizations over the years, and is a published children’s book author and local magazine founder/editor.
When not sneaking treats to the animals at the SPCA of Northern Nevada, Emily loves spending time with her family, including her ten year old mini–me and two rescued fur babies. She’s an avid outdoors person, Tahoe beach bum, mountain biker, runner, gardener, and lover of all the little things in life that matter most.
