Outdoor adventurer. Dog whisperer. Melomaniac.
Devan spent his 20s traveling the southwest from Texas to Nevada. He has always had an itch to explore, to meet new people, and to see as much as possible. He tried his hand at many different jobs along the way, always striving to gain skill sets in as many areas as possible. It’s always been important to find something that combined compassion, strategy, and exercise, so animal welfare seemed perfect for him! Devan got his first job in animal welfare in 2018 caring for animals in New Mexico at the Santa Fe animal shelter and Humane Society as an adoption counselor. He quickly realized he wanted to learn more about animal caretaking and behavior, so he turned his sights to behavior training. In 2021, Devan decided to leave New Mexico and head west to Nevada to begin a new position as transfer coordinator for Pet Network. At Pet Network, Devan was able to gain a multitude of experience in program building and eventually became the transfer and animal care manager, utilizing the skills he had learned over the years.
The mission for Devan has remained the same: to provide the best care possible and ensure the most humane outcome for every animal in his care. When not at the SPCA-NN helping make our community a better place for pets and their people, Devan can be found attending concerts, adventuring outdoors, and traveling to new and exciting places with his own pup (pictured here), Hendrix (yes-named after the great Jimmy Hendrix)!
