If you met Woden today, you’d see how regal he is.
You’d see the way he watches his people during walks, how happily he melts into their cuddles, and how happy he is curled up beside his family, who absolutely adore him. Most days, Woden can be found napping, soaking up affection, and enjoying the simple comfort of finally feeling good.
What you wouldn’t see is everything he overcame to get here.

Some pets arrive needing more than just a home.

When Woden first arrived at SPCA of Northern Nevada from a rural transfer partner, he needed immediate medical care. His right eye was painfully damaged and had to be removed, and his body showed all the signs of a dog who had gone far too long without veterinary care.
Still, it didn’t take long for people to fall in love with him.
Just 11 days after arriving in our care, Woden met the family who would change his life forever.
His adopters weren’t searching for a dog like him. But after passing his kennel once, they found themselves coming back for a second look. Then they met him, and everything clicked.
Woden chose them right back.
“He is a fighter, a sweetheart, and such a joy. He bonded with us so quickly and looks at us with so much love.” — Woden’s adopters
They brought him home that same day, fully aware that he had ongoing veterinary needs. To them, none of that changed who he was: a sweet, loving dog who deserved every chance to heal and be happy.
But not long after adoption, another unexpected challenge appeared.
After establishing care with their regular veterinarian, an ultrasound revealed a dangerous abdominal mass that required emergency surgery before it threatened his life. His adopters were determined to do everything they could to help him, but worried about how they would afford his care.
That’s when Todd’s Medical Fund provided the help they needed.
Woden’s adopters applied for assistance, and as an SPCA-NN alumni pet, Woden was quickly approved that day, enabling him to get the urgent surgery he needed.
After surgery, his adopters shared that, “Todd’s Fund literally saved his life.”

Behind every recovery story is a community that made it possible.

Today, Woden is healing, gaining strength, and settling deeper into the life he always deserved.
His story is a reminder that sometimes the most important support comes after adoption day.
Because helping pets doesn’t end once they leave our care.
Our community’s financial support made it possible for Woden to receive the care he needed at SPCA-NN, helped his adopters through a frightening veterinary emergency after adoption, and ensured this beloved dog healed in his loving home.
This is what YOUR gift makes possible for pets in need. Thank you.
