The first time we met Lauren, her little nub tail was going a mile a minute. She had just arrived at SPCA of Northern Nevada, greeting everyone with the enthusiasm of a dog who’d already decided life was about to get better.

Beneath that constant wag and cheerful, buck-toothed grin, her body carried signs of an unknown past. Our clinic team discovered evidence of old trauma that left her with lifelong medical effects, but you’d never know it by the way she lived each day.

Lauren had one mood: tail wiggling, eyes sparkling, ready to charm her way into your heart. She was pure sunshine!

She quickly earned the nickname “the snack queen,” happily trotting over at the faintest rustle of a treat bag. If you sat down, she’d be there—leaning her head against your knee, melting into your hand, always ready for affection.

Because she was calm, respectful, and adored by everyone, Lauren often spent her days hanging out in our office, curled at our feet, snoozing away the day. She became part of the team.

So far this year, more than 160 pets have required advanced medical treatment, diagnostics, or ongoing monitoring while in our care — lifesaving work made possible by donors like YOU.

Her charm didn’t stop there. She even made her debut on local news and radio, winning over every person she met! She was happy to be out and about, soaking up affection, her tail always wiggling and her adorable buck teeth on full display.

Behind the scenes, our veterinary staff was ensuring her comfort through careful monitoring, medication, and specialized caretreatment made possible thanks to generous donor support. Lauren handled every test and exam with patience and strength, never losing that sparkle in her eyes.

Then came our Donor Meet & Greet event. A kind couple paused outside Lauren’s cabin, instantly captivated by her gentle gaze. They spoke with our veterinarian, learned about her health history, and her ongoing care needs. None of it deterred them, not even for a second. They saw what we saw: a happy, loving soul with so much life left to live.

Every day afterward, they called to ask how she was doing. They waited patiently until she was medically cleared, and as soon as she was… they came in and made it official.

Lauren, now Sadie, was finally home!

Stories like Lauren’s are why we need your financial support to continue helping homeless pets receive the care and love they deserve.

Today, Sadie is thriving. Her adopters say she’s set her own bedtime routine, loves scouting her yard, and continues to charm everyone she meets. Her tail still wags nonstop, especially at snack time.

Her story is a reminder that even when a pet’s past is uncertain, their future can still be bright, and that every act of compassion makes a difference.

Because of donors like YOU, SPCA-NN can give pets like Sadie the expert care, time, and love they need to shine again.

Your compassion turns second chances into loving homes and transforms uncertainty into joy.

Give today and your gift will be MATCHED dollar-for-dollar through December 5, doubling your impact for pets like Sadie who remind us that love always wins.

What we DO Matters. What you GIVE matters.
