When Edward was surrendered to us, he was a shadow of himself. His fur was matted, foxtails were burrowed into his skin, both eyes were infected, and he was suffering from a chronic illness that had been left untreated. Perhaps the most noticeable thing was how happy and loving he was, despite what he had endured.
Our veterinary team sprang into action, providing him with the round-the-clock care he desperately needed. We shaved his tangled coat, removed the painful foxtails from his skin, and surgically removed one eye, as it was beyond saving. We also started him on medication for chronic illness.
Despite all he’d endured, Edward still loved and trusted every human he met.
Despite his condition, Edward still loved and trusted every human he met. He would melt into people’s laps and was a big fan of scratches behind the ear. He was the type of dog who was content to lay at your feet all day, happy to be near someone he loved.
After surgery, we monitored Edward’s recovery and response to medication. In just a short week we noticed a significant difference. His eye was healing beautifully, his fur was growing back, and his energy had returned thanks to his new medication plan for his illness. His spirit began to shine!
Today, Edward is a happy, energetic ball of fluff…
We understood it could take some time to find a family willing to give him the long-term care he needed for his chronic condition. But we also knew whoever adopted this sweet boy was in for a lifetime of devotion and laughter.
In September, a loving couple came in to meet Edward. The moment he bound into their arms during their meet and greet, we all knew he was going home with them. They were excited to give him the love and care he truly deserved.
Today, Edward is a happy, energetic ball of fluff, enjoying sunset strolls, playing with his many toys, lying on the back deck in the sun, and cuddling up on the couch with his new family.
His adopters report that “Edward is living his best life! He’s full of energy, loves long walks, and is even making friends with the mail lady and UPS driver. Now that his teeth are fixed, he’s happily chewing on toys and snuggling on the sofa with us. He’s found his home—and we couldn’t be happier!”
