Maureen and Deobra are our dynamic cat duo! They have been volunteering with us since the spring of 2018 and together have contributed over 500 hours to our organization and our animals.

Maureen never misses an opportunity to volunteer for an adoption event to help get her furry feline friends adopted to loving familie. Deobra has all the levels of dog socialization but she always makes time to hang with the cats and her good friend.

They take the time and patience to get to know the cats on an intimate level, especially the ones that are overlooked, and make them feel wanted and loved. Deobra loves to see the shy cats finally “acting like real cats” and witness them coming out of their shells. Maureen will sit for hours and talk to them, read out loud to them and/or give them snuggles.

Our staff loves how each time they come in they make sure to visit with every single cat, even if it’s just for a quick hello and some head scratches. They never miss a kitty but they also never force a kitty to interact, making sure to take the time to let the cat open up and come to them for a “hello” or some pets. You could call them certified cat whisperers!

We appreciate them so much and we know our cats do too.
