Busy, that’s what I am.
A little crazy too, yes, but that’s not the point.
I am a busy lady and as much as I love dogs with every furry fiber of my being, the fact is I live a cat lifestyle.
They call us cat ladies “crazy” because the little free time that we do have every day is dedicated to our cats! They are our little rays of furry sass and sunshine and they love us even though they seem think that we’re their human minions (in their defense, they were once worshipped by the Egyptians).
Between all of my day-to-day responsibilities and activities, I’m out of the house 10-12 hours almost every day. And guess who doesn’t mind?
I don’t have to stress that she’s going to pee in the house, chew up the couch, bark and/or whine in the backyard, be stuck in a crate for too long, get into the garbage because she’s hungry, and so on. I’m not hating on dogs; I think they’re awesome! But they do require more care and supervision, which a lot of us don’t have time for.
So next time you’re thinking about adopting, think CAT!
Cats offer all the cuddles without any of the added stress. I feed my kitty in the morning, give her snuggles, and then I’m out the door for the next 12 hours. And she has a great time while I’m gone! She naps to her heart’s content, watches the local National Geographic channel a.k.a. looks out the window, chases dust bunnies under the bed, eats a little, naps some more, and does whatever she pleases.
When I get home from a long day and my feet ache and all I want to do is sit down, you know who else does? My cat. She’ll anchor herself on my lap, as if to tell me “you need this, human, REST!” She helps me unwind after a long day with some purr therapy.
Why am I telling you this you ask? Because often times when people say they “don’t have time” to adopt, what they mean is they don’t have time for a dog. Too many people don’t realize just how aMEOWzing cats are! Often times they are just as affectionate as a dog, but much less maitenance.
So, if you’re a busy busy person like myself, I’m here to tell you that you’re ready: ready for a cat!
