An Update from Jill Vacchina Dobbs, executive director at the SPCA of Northern Nevada

I hope you are safe and healthy at home during these challenging times! The uncertainty we all face right now is a challenge unlike anything most of us have seen before. We will get through this time together. We will learn lessons about patience and compassion. We will adapt. We will keep moving forward for the pets and community we serve.

We are providing loving care for almost 100 pets either in our adoption center or in foster care.

The SPCA of Northern Nevada continues our work saving the lives of homeless pets, providing critical community services like our affordable vaccination clinics and free shelter feeding program. We are providing loving care for almost 100 pets either in our adoption center or in foster care.  We are conducting virtual and drive-through adoptions, by appointment only, with strict adherence to CDC procedures.  As usual, in challenging economic times the demand for our animal welfare services increases, while donations decrease

The SPCA-NN thrift store, which is currently closed, accounted for 40% of our life-saving income.

In our case, the need for rescues and services will begin to increase, while our main sources of funding are now gone. The SPCA-NN thrift store, which is currently closed, accounted for 40% of our life-saving income, and our Affur to Remember Gala, our primary fundraising event, has been canceled.

The loss of these two main sources of funding will have an unprecedented impact on our life-saving capacity.  Additionally, we don’t receive funds from the government or national SPCAs – we rely on our community to continue saving lives.

Right now, more than ever, we need you to rise with us to meet this emergency challenge – please make a gift before #GivingTuesdayNow on May 5th and have it matched dollar-for-dollar up to $65,000!

Please be a HERO, and join us to Save Pets While In Your Sweats!

GIVE A GIFT!

Thank you!

With sincere gratitude and prayers for all,
Jill Vacchina Dobbs, Executive Director
