A message from our Executive Director
2025 is a year of resilience and innovation at SPCA of* Northern Nevada. We navigated a temporary closure to complete critical HVAC repairs and used that opportunity to improve multiple pet spaces in our Adoption Center. We also built a new pet dental suite, allowing us to provide more comprehensive dental care to our pets; alleviating their pain, and prolonging their lives, so they can be adopted healthy and happy.
Even while our doors were closed, our commitment to pets and pet lovers never wavered. We continued offering affordable community services, including our new Spay/Neuter Voucher Assistance Program, and expanded collaborations with trusted partners. For example, we’re now supplying food to Washoe County Regional Animal Services (WCRAS) to bag for Res-Que. This collaborative effort supports the Karma Boxes around Washoe County, helping families feed their pets during times of need.
We eagerly reopened our doors to record-breaking intakes and adoptions in the first two months—numbers we hadn’t seen in years. Though staffing changes have since required us to adjust, that powerful start showed us the incredible potential of our community’s support. We also continue to make adoption more accessible with affordable adoption fees and special initiatives like our Pets Are Family program, which waives adoption fees for active military members, veterans, seniors, and Nevada teachers!
While challenges remain in our community, your support allows us to meet them with compassion and strength. We are deeply grateful for our community, donors, volunteers, and partners who make this work possible, and we look forward to what’s ahead as we continue our lifesaving mission together.
